Can’t make it into renew.calm for a treatment? Or do you want to maintain the results of your Radiance Massage at home? We have some easy homecare suggestions for you that don’t take a lot of time but give impressive results. By incorporating them into your daily or weekly routine, you’ll see a significant improvement in your dry winter skin.
Be mindful of what you are cleansing your body with. Harsh surfactants in many bar soaps and shower gels can strip your skin of its natural lipids or oils. To cleanse without losing that important moisture barrier, use a shea butter or olive oil-based bar soap or gentle shower gel. Avoid very hot water while showering or bathing and be mindful of how many you take daily. If the water is too hot and your skin looks rosy when you’re done, it may aggravate your dry skin. Bathing or showering more than once a day can also rob the skin of its natural moisture barrier.
If the skin feels rough or looks flaky, you have a build-up of dead skin cells on the surface and will benefit from an exfoliant. New skin cells are constantly being created and the old ones should slough off to make way for the newbies. However, the lack of humidity in our homes and offices this winter may have increased the number of dry cells on your skin’s surface. Get rid of them by using sloughing gloves or along with your soap or cleanser. Its easy to reach your back with a body brush. For a stronger result, use a granular scrub 2-3 times a week. We love the sugar-based Bourbon Bubbler our massage therapists use in our Blooming Bourbon Punch Spring Radiance Massage. Step into your shower and apply it with vigorous friction movements with either your bare hands or the sloughing gloves we mentioned above. Be sure to stir your oil-based salt and sugar scrubs before using as the granules may settle and separate from the oil.
After towel-drying, make sure you add a layer of protection to your skin, before getting dressed. It only takes a moment to apply a body moisturizer, but we often run jump into our clothing before this important step. Massaging a moisturizer into your skin provides a veil of protection to prevent water loss. Choose a light lotion or thick body cream based on the weather, your skin type, or personal preference. Bring our Blooming Bourbon Punch Spring Radiance Massage home by picking Farmhouse Fresh’s Front Porch Shea Butter Cream with juicy scents of strawberry, mango, melon, and grapefruit.
Keep in mind certain over-the-counter and prescription medications can add to skin dehydration. You may benefit from implementing some of these tips into your routine. Ask your doctor for advice if your winter dry skin seems to last even after the season is over.
