What is Therapeutic Massage?

What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic (deep tissue) massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body. A trained massage therapist uses slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or moving across the fibers of the muscles, tendons, and fascia. Therapeutic massage helps break up and eliminate scar tissue, focusing on more specific areas of injury.

What is the purpose of Therapeutic Massage?

The purpose is to “unstick” the fibers of the muscle, release deeply held patterns of tension, and remove toxins while relaxing and soothing the muscles.

Why get Therapeutic Massage?

It feels good and it’s beneficial to your health. When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrient flow, leading to inflammation that builds up, along with toxins in the muscle tissue. A therapeutic massage helps loosen muscle tissue, releases toxins from muscles and allows blood and oxygen to circulate properly.
